Title says it all.
All the guides fail to mention this. During the illhoof fight I usually have about 8 imps firing at me. Under normal circumstances this shuts me down - I can't cast at all. Nether protection makes me immune to fire after taking a few hits, meaning that the imps did basically no damage to me and more importantly, didn't stop me casting. And we completed it first time without any difficulty.
Unfortunately nether protection is in the destro tree, also know as the 'get owned in pvp tree'. I like smooth raids, but I also like winning gladiator gear. So I'll be switching back to affliction for my last round of pvp before the new arena season.
It also did protect me during the nightbane fight several times. Shame I can't become immune to stabbity death.
Oddly my dps went down when I went destruction. It used to have a rep as the omgwtfbbq dps tree, but now it's only useful in odd situations like illhoof. I think it's pretty good for fire locks, but if you go fire you can't go affliction, so nobody does. |

And destro is just like being a fire mage - with no skillcoil and half the hp |
