Well, i havnt been a dps shaman for a long time and am only just now starting to collect gear. I have half a set of enhance gear with about 800+ap, but my main problem i see myself facing, is the speed of my weapons. I have been reading and i think that the dagger i took from prince last night will be usless to me as far as dps goes, sure it is a 91dps weap, but the speed is too fast i think... 1.8 or 1.9 speed is too fast for OH or MH weapons??
http://elitistjerks.com/f31/t13297-enhance_shaman_collected_works_theorycraft_vol_i/
anyway, i would love for mojo or kaz to give their point of view on enhance shaman, i need all the help i can get as far as spec and stats go.
p.s, my main computer is in the shop getting a few things fixed, so i wont be online for a couple of days... i hope that i wil be on for thursday's raid but if i'm not u know why. |

As far as duel wielding goes Zul, the general rule of thumb is:
MainHand - Highest TOP END DMG weapon
Offhand - Highest DPS rated weapon
This is due to the fact that:
MainHand attacks use your instant attacks (Sinister strike for Rogues, Bloodthirst for Warriors, StormStrike for Shamans) - therefore the weapon speed does not matter as the attack is instant as soon as you press the button. Ideally, you want the slowest and biggest top end damage MH weapon you can find. (I believe the hidden WF cooldown also plays a part in this)
Offhand attacks are simply 'auto attacks' and therefore benefit the most from fast hitting and/or high dps weapons. Offhand attacks only attack as fast as the weapon speed allows.
Therefore next time you see a rogue with the slow weapon in the offhand and fast weapon in the mainhand, please laugh at them for me. _________________ Cecepel - 70 Mage

2.0 or 2.5 Zul
That's pretty much all you need to know.
The reason behind having a minimum 2.0 to 2.5 weapon speed is because of WF.
WF is now on an invisible 3 second timer. Procs once = wait 3 seconds before your next *possible* proc
It helps to get the most out of our WF procs - coz if the off hander weapon is faster, it *steals* WF procs off your main hander
kaz probably knows better
Aside from that, we need a ton of +hit and +crit.
So go the slow weapons and find some +hit, and you'll be very happy. _________________ Need more sleeeep.....oh LF1M Shaman scholo....me me me!

so is the 1.8 dagger too fast to be effective?? i read that i would prob be better off getting a green or blue OH with a speed of 2.5+ to make the most use of the hidden WF timer... but i was just wondering, can u imbue OH weap with different weapon buff to the MH?? if so, wouldnt this negate the 3sec WF CD??? so i could use the fast dagger in my OH and imbue it with fire or frostband , and stil get the benefit from the fast swings and more procs... while using WF on the MH with a 2.5+ swing speed??
IDK, like i said b4, i am a total noob when it comes to DPS, i have been a lazy healbot for too long!! its time Zullsoka comes out of his shell and starts to do some DPS!!!! |

nah 1.8 isn't too bad, but the slower the higher potential burst dmg
I also read that double WF still puts out more DPS than any other combo's of imbue's sadly enough.
The other thing i'd suggest is getting crusader or spell surge (if you can afford it) on your weapons.
Crusader still offers +100 strength at level 70, and is only just behind Mongoose in terms of effectiveness. Its a heck of alot cheaper too! Spell surge is also just freaking awesome. While +100 mana doesn't seem like much, that bugger proc's so often, its quite worth while. However its hard to find someone who can do it + rather expensive! _________________ Need more sleeeep.....oh LF1M Shaman scholo....me me me!

hmm cece... i think.... i hope... it is a "one hand" weapon, which means its ok to use as OH.
mojo... i tried hard to find someone who could do spellsurge on my healing mace, i liked the idea of random 100mp during boss fights, but i recon the only viable reason to go with the spell surge enchant is if u are in an orgaised end game raiding guild that makes the effort to gear everyone out in the best possible gear to benefit the raid. meaning that it is a pointless enchant to get if only 1 person has it, seeing that it procs for the whole party. imagine a healing group with 5 people all with the spell surge enchant!! i recon that would be the end of mana pots!!... so i think it would be more effective with a +dmg enchant, or +srt to maxamise personal dmg output.
now to find a good main hand weapon, and a few more pieces of armor then i will be ready to respec. |

For shammies, I think you basically want two slow hard hitting weapons. I also read the same thing about WF procs being stolen by wimpy fast off-handers.
I think the general rule of slow MH and fast OH applies more to rogues (maybe warrs??). Fast OH is for constant dps and fast poison application.
Of course I could be pulling all this outta my @ss...:p _________________ Highest crit to date:

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/shaman/talents.html?0000000000000000000050252321050013053115105205301000000000000
just playin around with the talent calculator, i think this build would be good. any suggestions??
i noticed on Kaza's talent built, he had points in Anticipation, i dont know if i would put points in there, unless ofcourse, enhance is a build that generates alot of agro and u need the +dodge to avoid getting pwnt, but if this was the case, then speccing into toughness would prob be good aswell to minimise dmg.
ATM i am stil looking for a solid main hand weapon, i am lazy at pvp and havnt got enough points to buy anything decent yet :*(
i got about 830AP. I am gonna try to farm the Desolation helm (BM) and shoulders (H-SP), which will give me the set bonus of +hit, which would be great in Pve. |
