Here ye here ye!
The great DPS challenge of 2008 is upon us. I decree that citizens and noobs of IV lay down their challenges to claim, once and for all, the title of top DPS'er in IV!
The date: Sunday 6th April (subject to change, if necessary)
The time: 4pm
The place: Karazhan
The target: -yet to be determined-
The reward: 50g
No holes barred. No agro tables. No restrictions on pots, buffs, spec's, classes. 8 dps classes (and 2 healers). Claim your place in the dps line up. You must already be topping dps in raids.
Bring the smack talk. Everything will be settled on 06/04. You have 2.5 weeks to prepare your gear.
I have the following people down for this event:
Tree (healer/tank - ergo, I'm here to spectate and judge)

Lol Aran,
Was thinking I would have to bring my poor neglected mage out to show you punks a thing or 2, but aran is a heavily sided fight towards melee/huntards - so I may have to bring lolret bubble.
I demand Windfury!
PS: I made this graph to help out with the judging

| What's a boss that provides an even chance for melee/casters. If all the dps is ranged, then i'd say Prince. |

I dunno about prince I can't Fire Blast during that fight due to the range thingy. I would say the first boss in ZA thats pretty much stand up dps fight if it's a single fight otherwise I still recon ZA would be much better overall and to be fair there is no real AOE for the mages to get away.
Hate to say it but my votes on Major.

lololol. i just had a reality check!! gawk cant out dps any of u crazy mofo's, atleast not in burst dmg, but in a sustained long fight, i recon gawk will outdps u all due to my endless mana pool and DoTs which keep ticking over.
But really guys, we know who our main dpsers are and we need to look after their egos, so this sounds like a good idea to me. |

Ohhh, I'm keen. Doubt I'll win it, but I dont plan to let major pull away easily :p That fight requires too much mana (unless of course we have so much dps that we wtfbbqpwn him in 4 minutes)
Dont spose we could get a sub in to tank prince? _________________ Highest crit to date:

oh i dunno there's plenty of good competition out there....
if only cece was geared, and bash was still around
Wellhard's been doing quite well lately too, and i do recall aster beating me by a few % sometimes
Still its hard to find a boss that we can all have a good bash at. Currently me thinks bear boss in ZA is most unbias against melee
Bear or Aran i reckon
(though with aran melee DPS will suffer when they have to chase the water elementals around & and on magnetic pull)
So i'm leaning towards bear _________________ Need more sleeeep.....oh LF1M Shaman scholo....me me me!

Aran is VERY biased towards physical dps, espeically melee it seems.
On the other hand, most fights due to group composition is biased towards magic damage. Since group 2 always gets the mana regen + totems.
Hunters and rogues get very little in the way of buffing in group 1 (also depends on if we have a warr tank to sunder for us or a pally tank)
/cry
Bear is a good standing fight, very long tho. Maiden seems to be pretty fair to me, its not too long, no adds or secondary targets. _________________ Highest crit to date:

I have to disagree with maiden half theat fight I'm stunned I don't get any consitanty, My vote is with bear over 1 million hp and no real restrictions for anyone.
Say guys Flame caps pretty cool and with only 2 min cooldown. Also if U need flasks Tiff can make some she has 3 I think it's the main 3, def have the Flask of Death... Say anyone have Fel Lotus for sale

Bear boss is firming up as the challengers target.
How does this seem for all? Unfortunately, only 5 top dps'ers are permitted for Bear, given the tanking and healing requirements. So far, the top 3-4 that come to mind are: Cece, Major, Bash, Este. Who else would be a contender? |

I think to be fair we'd have to run 2-3 rounds of qualifiers - we just have too many people who'd want a crack at it
aside from the names you've mentioned i'll add a few who'd i think want a go
* all the mages (Nos, Blue, Aster)
* all the hunters (WH, Cy, Wilbow, Mftezza)
* Kaza?
* Gawk?
Not sure if the ret pally's wanna put in a show as well...
How often does ZA reset? _________________ Need more sleeeep.....oh LF1M Shaman scholo....me me me!

If we are having rounds make sure we count on DPS rather than dmg done etc ... don't want some scrub mage pulling top billing due to being lobbed into an easy group
Thats right cece ... im looking at you when i say this _________________ Is it a bird? Is a plane? Its a spacechicken! Boom! |

bear boss would be much more fair than maiden or aran.
Maiden=regular silence, and really she dies way too fast to jufge anything
Aran= too many other factors, interrupts, gravity pull, elementals, etc
bear boss will show us who can pump out sustained dps ( cause it is such a long fight).
I will definatly be in for the DPS comp, tho i am expecting to come 3rd to mojo,cy,mft... not sure about the others, i recon me and stella would be on par with eachother, but lets see. ZA resets afaik.. every 3 days?? so we can get more than 1 run in a week for heats say.... 2 heats then the final?? top 5 total dps gets to compete in the final and have a chance to be crowned IV's top dpser. |

ok how about this
ZA bear
line up - 5 DPS'ers per hit out. We'll use WWW stats?
Must require a pally for salvation.
Line up:
Round 1: (Alec + Squigs/Shawne/tree tank?)
Mojo
Nos
Bash
Cecepel
Serate
Round 2: (Bubble + Squigs/Shawne/tree tank?)
Mftezza
Cytherea
Wellhard
Wilbow
(empty - though a shadow priest might be good for mana)
Round 3: (Bubble + Squigs/Shawne/tree tank?)
Este
Blue
Gawk
Stella
Asterics
Still tossing up round 2 actually, wish we had another warrior tank for sunders to help the hunters.
I wonder which round will drop bear the fastest _________________ Need more sleeeep.....oh LF1M Shaman scholo....me me me!
